World Championship Boxing: Garcia vs. Burgos

Undefeated rising superstar Mikey Garcia will defend his WBO Super Featherweight Championship against top rated challenger Juan Carlos Burgos. The co-feature is a match-up between undefeated Heavyweights, as Philadelphia’s Bryant “By-By” Jennings steps into the ring to take on popular Polish knock-out artist, Artur Szpilka. This fight will happen on Jan. 25 at New York’s Madison Square Garden on HBO.

Garcia (33-0, 28 knockouts) is coming off an eighth-round knockout of Roman “Rocky” Martinez last month that earned him the belt and represented his 10th stoppage victory over the course of his past 11 fights.

Burgos is now making his third bid at a world title, and his second for the WBO 130 lbs belt. In 2010, he traveled to Japan and challenged Hozumi Hasegawa, losing on points. Although that fight was in the Japanese fighter’s backyard, the loss is perceived as legitimate.

Mikey Garcia is arguably the best technician in the sport under the age of 30, which is a big part of why he is the #13 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. A knockdown or two will put Burgos onto the defensive, but against Garcia the increased effort of moving around the outside of the ring will wear him down. With the fight ending either in a late TKO or a clear UD.

Tickets for the Garcia-Burgos 12-round battle are still widely available in the nearest ticketing booth and online sites. We highly suggesting you to buy Garcia vs Burgos tickets now to witness and experience this exciting boxing matchup that will surely start the year.
